He is the tallest basketball player in the world.

Robert Bobroczky the tallest basketball player aged 16 is about to take American basketball by storm, becoming the tallest player to play professionally in the US.

Bobroczky is hoping to become the tallest player ever to play in the American NBA.At 7ft 7in, the teenager is already the same size as the NBA’s tallest ever player.

His incredible size is what stands out, but those who know him say it is not the only thing that makes the 16-year-old unique known as “Big Rob” at school, he gets top grades and is fluent in four different languages Romanian, English, Hungarian and Italian.

tallest basketball playerhomeremedies_add“He’s obviously one of a kind,” said Bobby Bossman, the teenager’s coach at certified Olympic training facility Spire Institute. “The kid’s work ethic is absolutely unbelievable. You ask him to do anything, and he’s going to do it.”

A few years ago, Bossman saw videos of Bobroczky and was immediately intrigued. Even then, he stood at a towering 7ft 3in, and the coach could see limitless potential.

Bossman got in touch with him and his family over the phone and through Skype, and they set up a visit. Bobroczky has excellent shooting, passing, and shot blocking skills, but what the Romanian lacks are any traces at all of muscle on his 184-pound frame. Since he is in Italy, the recipe is simple: pasta, pasta and more pasta.

Following an individual nutrition plan created for him by specialists at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, Bobroczky is eating more than two pounds of pasta per day.

  • 8 a.m. — Breakfast: 10.5 ounces (300 grams) of pasta, either plain or with tomato sauce; eight slices of toast with bacon and an egg.

  • 12 p.m. — Snack: energy bar or drink
  • 1 p.m. — Lunch: 14 ounces (400 grams) of pasta, meat or fish, vegetables

  • 2:30 p.m. — Snack: sweets
  • 3-5 p.m. — Gym: muscle strengthening
  • 5:30 p.m. — Snack: sweets
  • 6 p.m. — Rest
